- Define your lifestyle interests. People who buy second homes want areas that match their interests. Ask yourself how you like to spend your time – involved in a lot of outdoor recreation, or participating in the arts, doing volunteer work? Define what do you like to do and then search for an area that provides plenty of opportunity for you to enjoy your individual lifestyle.
- Determine the ideal travel distance. Ideal traveling time is a matter of personal preference and tolerance. If it’s too far or too expensive to reach within a few hours, you likely won’t use an owner-occupied second home enough to justify the cost.
